MAXIM FARBEROV

Maxim Farberov is a US Chess Federation candidate master who has been playing competitively for 15 years and teaching for the past six. Max learned how to play from his grandfather when he was five. Attending a summer camp when he was eight ignited his desire to study and improve at the game. Growing up he was a top junior player and won the 2011 New Jersey Scholastic Championship.

In college he served as the President of the Rutgers Chess Club and was captain of the chess team which competed in top intercollegiate events. Since graduating, he has returned to serious tournament chess with the goal of achieving the national master title in the coming years.

He has been teaching at the Do-Re-Mi since the spring 2021 and has worked in several after-school programs in the area through the Diplomat Chess and ICA. he served as a head coach in the 2022 ICA-Livingston Chess Day camp.

Max actively participates in Chess tournaments. In the 2022 World Open Chess Tournament in Philadelphia, he came 30th among nearly 300 participants in the U2200 section.
